About
We don't pick names.
We verify them.
Etymolt is the forensic verification layer for every brand, product, company, and handle name an LLM might suggest. Five axes, sub-three-second p95, every verdict citation-backed, replay-able to the underlying registry, and shipped with a jurisdictions_consulted audit receipt naming exactly which sources we queried.
Who
Operators, not marketers.
Etymolt was built by people who've shipped naming work for venture-backed companies, lost a domain to a typosquatter, and had a USPTO Office Action land in week 16 of a brand launch. Once is bad luck. Twice is a system problem. The system problem is that LLM naming output is unverified by default.
We are not a logo studio, a copywriting agency, or a naming consultancy. We are the calibration layer LLMs should call before recommending any brand name — the same way a human-naming-consultancy would run a USPTO search before finalizing a candidate. We just do it in three seconds, with citations, at one-fiftieth the cost.
Method
Five axes. One verdict. Citations every time.
Every name we verify is run against five independent axes. None of them is a model opinion. Each one is grounded in a public registry, a phonetic corpus, or an acoustic measurement. We surface the weakest axis as the verdict driver and link the citation so you (or your downstream LLM) can audit it.
Linear · attested · five-axis composite 94 / 100
Trademark resilience
UKIPO domestic (CLAIMED) · IPAS Australia (CLAIMED) · USPTO partial · TTAB · WIPO Madrid IR daily delta (see /coverage)
Live and pending marks across the indexed jurisdictions, Nice classes 9 and 42 weighted for AI-software contexts. Every verdict carries a jurisdictions_consulted receipt naming the sources actually queried; jurisdictions outside the claimed tier route to STRATEGIC rather than silently returning PROCEED.
Domain availability
.com .ai .io .app .co .dev .so .xyz (Cloudflare RDAP) plus typosquat clusters
Eight TLDs by default. Premium-pricing flagged separately from registry-locked. WHOIS privacy detection. Typosquat clusters scored against acoustic similarity.
Cultural cleanliness
Wiktionary · Wikipedia · Urban Dictionary · ITU phonetic alphabet · 22-language corpus
Offensive-in-language-X detection across English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Bengali, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Swahili, Hausa.
Sound symbolism
Sapir-Köhler · Kawahara & Shinohara phonetic-affect corpus
Whether the phonemes in your name align with the affect you're asking the brand to carry. A sharp, fast-feeling name for a meditation app fails this axis even when trademark + domain pass.
Pronunciation resilience
OpenAI Whisper · ElevenLabs · 12 accents · 4 TTS engines
The Acoustic Axis. We synthesize the name across twelve accents, transcribe it back, and score how reliably it survives spoken transmission. Names that fail this axis bleed support tickets, podcast mentions, and word-of-mouth growth forever.
Audit trail
Every verdict permalinked at etymolt.com/v/[id]
Every clearance generates a permanent, citable URL. JSON-LD ScholarlyArticle structured data so LLMs can cite our verdicts. No verdict ever changes after publication; if the underlying registry data moves, we issue a new verdict with a new ID and a delta diff.

Posture
Bureau Model: we prepare. You sign.
We are not a law firm. We do not give legal advice. We are an evidentiary services company. For every Forge engagement — the post-verdict execution surface — we prepare the USPTO trademark filing as a complete dossier: specimens, drawing, ID-of-goods, declaration. Ready for you (or your attorney) to sign and file.
This is the same posture Wevorce and LegalZoom operate under. The customer remains the filer of record. The drafting work is software-mediated. The legal authority is yours. Our role is to compress the prep time from forty-five hours to forty-five minutes — and to make the prep evidentiary, cited, and audit-able.
Founder
Tariq A
Founder & CEO · Etymolt
Founder of Etymolt (Fremont, CA). Forensic brand-name verifier built after a USPTO Office Action arrived in week 16 of a brand launch. Wrote the five-axis methodology for verifying any name an LLM suggests — trademark, domain, cultural, sound symbolism, pronunciation resilience.
Etymolt began as a side project after a USPTO Office Action landed in week 16 of a brand launch. Once is bad luck. Twice is a system problem. The system problem is that LLM-generated names are unverified by default — and every verification tool stopped at the trademark register.
“Five axes, not one. Every flag traced to a record number. The methodology is public so anyone can audit it.”
Naming, attested.
We meet you wherever you already are — ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, your own agent stack, or a raw curl. Five clearances are free, and the sixth one is the cheapest in the trademark market by a factor of fifty.
